Museum360 - Digital VR platform development

About this project
A platform that enables museums to present their collections online via 360° photos, with VRED CMS for content management.
The challenge
Museums want to make their collections more widely accessible, but the barrier to planning a physical visit is high for many people. Existing virtual tour solutions were expensive, inflexible, and required technical knowledge to update. Museum360 sought a scalable platform that allows museums to publish and manage 360° experiences themselves, without a developer, with multilingual support to reach international audiences.
The approach
We developed the VRED Content Management System, a custom CMS specifically designed for managing and publishing 360° virtual tours. Museums upload their 360° photos, add hotspots with artwork information, and compose the tour via a drag-and-drop interface. The platform supports multiple languages so descriptions and navigation automatically adapt to the visitor's language. An API layer makes it possible to embed tours on external websites or integrate with museum apps.
Outcome
- Museums independently manage their 360° virtual tours without technical knowledge
- Drag-and-drop interface for composing tours and hotspots
- Multilingual support for international museum audiences
- Embeddable tours via API for external websites and apps
- 4 years of continued development with expanded functionality
